1984 USA San Dimas Charvel - Oxblood Metallic
SOLD
The Basics:
This is an original '84 Charvel, handmade in San Dimas, CA when each guitar was truly a one-off creation. It was special ordered with the rare, custom paint you see here: Oxblood Metallic. It never leaves my studio and has seen little play since I purchased it in 2005, due to some major life changes.
The neck is thin and playable, with a thick rosewood board. The action is medium height, but could easily be dropped if desired.
Were I a better historian of the materials used at Charvel over the years, I would guess the body material, as it feels more solid than other San Dimas guitars I have held. I believe this guitar is completely original, but feel free to request more images. Hopefully my brothers at the Jackson/Charvel Forum will let me know if I have missed anything obvious.
This was my first San Dimas Charvel and I'm not happy about parting with it. I know the new owner will be very pleased with this custom piece, because it has MOJO and is truly inspiring to play. The back of the body has some minor scratches and a couple of spots with paint missing. The imperfections are obvious in the images posted here. I was told by a paint expert that metallic red paint has been known to chemically react when exposed to body heat & sweat. I have no idea if that is the case here, but the locations are about right for that to be a possibility. The imperfections do not interfere with its excellent playability or the beauty of the instrument for observers.
Configuration & Electronics:
It has 2 Seymour Duncan JB "zebra" pickups, a speed knob, three-way "Les Paul-type" pickup selector switch and a small coil-splitter switch for the bridge pickup. This allows for a great range of tones with minimal adjustments, well-suited for live use.

Charvel will ship well-padded in the SKB hardshell case shown here.
I have $1350 invested in this guitar, and cannot afford to give it away.
